Nature: New hall. Classical, with coupled Corinthian pilasters. Contains assembly room, 100 x 45ft. FS laid 17 Mar 1860; 'on eve of completion', Apr 1861. Builder: John Harty. Proposed completion of entrance by covering it in and erecting reading room and other offices, 1869.  Work carried out by Feb 1871. Builder: R. Walker.
