New house (or existing house reroofed, cased, refitted and extended) in 'mixed gothic' style. Close to old castle of Dunboy. Built of Ballyknockan (co. Wicklow) granite with dressings of Ballintemple (Co. Cork) limestone. Contract signed 5 Jul 1866; almost finished in Oct 1867. Designed by J.T. Christopher; executant architect E.H. Carson. Contractor: T. & G. Cockburn, Dublin. Old castle also reroofed, cased and refitted internally. Total cost of works £36,827. (Burnt in 1921.) |
