Nature: Business premises destroyed by fire have been rebuilt and adapted for bookselling business by Mssrs Carson Bros. Contractor: Farquharson & Co.  Building is 'of very ornamental appearance...composed of fine red brick, with cut Irish granite coigns, a cut stone urn surmounting a handsome carved tablet bearing the monogram of the founder of the house, bringing the summit to a strikingly graceful finish'. Large glass dome used for lighting back portion of shop.
