Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Woodcarver, of Siena, Italy. Between the early 1880s and the early 1900s Cambi, who had a large workship with an international reputation in Siena, was commissioned by THOMAS MANLY DEANE  THOMAS MANLY DEANE to execute decorative woodwork for a number of buildings in Ireland including the National Museum, the National Library and the Milltown Wing of the National Gallery. Although employed almost exclusively by Deane in Ireland, he also carried out woodcarving in Rathmines Town Hall, to designs by THOMAS DREW  THOMAS DREW and may have been responsible for the woodcarving in Drew's east wing at Heywood, Co. Laois.
