Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architectural partnership of Belfast, formed circa 1897 or earlier by EDWARD J. BYRNE  EDWARD J. BYRNE and his brother JAMES BYRNE JAMES BYRNE . During 1897 and 1898 the partners collaborated with JOHN J. O'SHEA  JOHN J. O'SHEA on the west wing of St Mary's Dominican Convent, Falls Road, Belfast (and perhaps also on the related training college) and the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ormeau Road. The practice, which was responsible for a number of other Catholic churches and convents, as well as business premises and houses, operated from 4 Waring St, Belfast, until the death of Edward J. Byrne in 1930. James Byrne survived his brother, and the firm was still in existence in 1935.
