ASKINS, JOHN HAWKINS *

Builder, of Dublin, active from 1836 or earlier until 1863 or later. In addition to the trade of builder, the directories describe him as a postmaster (1839) and, from 1847 onwards, as a poor law guardian. John Askins was contractor for new rent offices for the Pembroke Estates in Wilton Place, Dublin, erected to designs by WILLIAM HAGUE  in 1866.(1) He died 'in or about February 1870' at the age of 82.(2)
