Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer.  Martin Farrell was resident engineer for the drainage works in the district of Lough Oughter, Co. Cavan, and, from 1854,of the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell district in Cos. Leitrim and Cavan.   His accounts of progress on the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell Junction Canal, the short-lived precursor of the Shannon-Erne Waterway, were published between 1856 and 1859 as appendices to  the 24th to 27th Reports of the Irish Board of Public Works.  He died in October 1859.
