Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of St John Villa, Albert Street, London, who designed the war memorial outside the court house Tralee, Co. Kerry.  Hallam was one of seven competitors who submitted designs.   The £10 prize was awarded to JAMES FRANKLIN FULLER JAMES FRANKLIN FULLER , whose design for an eighty-foot column was subsequently rejected as being too expensive and too difficult to site;  George Hallam's design was therefore chosen as the one to be executed.   It takes the form of two large pedestals surmounted by cannon on either side of the court house steps.  One pedestal is inscribed 'Crimea' and the other 'India'.
