NICHOLL, SAMUEL JOSEPH #

Architect, of London, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), 260-261. Samuel Joseph Nicholl was an entrant in the competition for designing the church of SS. Peter and Paul, Cork, in 1859.(1) At the time of the competition he had been working with GEORGE JONAS WIGLEY , who was also an entrant. His design was awarded the prize for architectural design awarded by the Society for the Encouragement of the Fine Arts for a work selected from either the Royal Academy exhibition or the Architectural Exhibition of the current year.(2)
