Architect, of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. John Belcher, a son of SAMUEL BELCHER , was born in Cork in 1834. He attended Queen's University, Cork, and was articled to his father before being appointed an assistant to JOHN BENSON , engineer to the Cork Harbour Board. He then moved to Liverpool. By 1858 he had emigrated to Canada, where he set up a successful practice in Peterborough, Ontario. He designed many buildings, both public and private, in Peterborough and elsewhere in Ontario. He died in Peterborough on 20 August 1915.
