Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and/or builder, active in Co. Louth in the second decade of the nineteenth century.   'John Reilly, an Architect' was paid for re-roofing and repairing Moylary Church, Co. Louth, in 1812 and 1813.  Between 1814 and 1817 payments amounting to £309.6s.8d. were made to him for re-roofing, re-slating and repairs at Dunleer church, Co. Louth, and after his death circa 1818, further payments of £6.7s.5½d. and £14.2s.9d for the same contract were made to his representatives in 1819 and 1820 respectively.(1)

Nature: 'The church is a neat modern structure, altered and repaired in 1811 by a parochial assessment, amounting to £300 Irish.' (Lewis).   'John Reilly, an Architect' paid £113.2s.1d in 1812 and balance of £38.3s.10d. in 1813 for re-roofing, re-slating and repairs. (JR may have been the contractor rather than the architect.)
