Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English architect, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), II, 759. In Ireland Tarver designed an eccentric mausoleum-cum-private chapel in the grounds of Rossmore Castle, Co. Monaghan, erected by the 5th Baron Rossmore to commemorate the death of his brother, the 4th Baron, on 27 March 1874. Tarver's design, with an accompanying description, was published in the Building News in 1876.(1)  Mulligan suggests that the Rossmore Monument in the Diamond in Monaghan might possibly also have been designed by Tarver.(2)
