Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Dublin-born sculptor, for whom see W.G. Strickland, A Dictionary of Irish Artists (1913), II, 8-10, and Paula Murphy, Nineteenth-Century Irish Sculpture: Native Genius Reaffirmed  (Yale University Press: New Haven & London, 2010), 179-181. John Lawlor was the sculptor of the bronze statues of Patrick Sarsfield (1881) in the grounds of St John's cathedral, Limerick, and of Bishop Delany (1889) in front of St Mary's cathedral, Cork. According to Strickland he also made 'several statues for Queenstown church [Cobh cathedral]'.
