HICKEY, JOHN [1]*
- Born: - Died: -
Builder, employed circa 1740 to renovate Lohort Castle, Co. Cork, for John, Viscount Perceval. Barnard describes the ill-starred undertaking: 'Hickey named a price -£450 - for the whole job, only to discover that he had miscalculated the costs of materials and labour. Bad weather and unsuspected defects in the building added to Hickey's difficulties. His debts led to his being imrpisoned in 1741.'(1)
