Engineer, of Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. Francis Edward Towsend was born in Searby, Lincolnshire in 1849 or 1850. He appears in the English census of 1881 as living in Aston, Warwickshire, with his Norfolk-born wife and two sons, FRANCIS GERALD TOWNSEND FRANCIS GERALD TOWNSEND and Owen Townsend, who who had both been born in Abersychan, Monmouthshire, during the preceding five years. At some stage he moved to Ireland and settled in Forthill House, Enniskillen. the 1870s or earlier until 1914 or later. Francis Edward Townsend's pupils and assistants included FRANCIS GERALD TOWNSEND FRANCIS GERALD TOWNSEND , who was probably his son.
