Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer, of Armagh. John Charters Boyle, who was born in Co. Armagh in 1869 or 1870, was appointed town surveyor for Armagh in 1897.(1)  He fought in World War I, when his duties were carried out by GEORGE HEMINGWAY MILLS. GEORGE HEMINGWAY MILLS. (2) He returned to his post with the rank of major after the war, and was still there in 1922.(3)    At the time of the 1911 census of Ireland he was unmarried, living with two older sisters at 42, The Mall, Armagh.
