Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Builder and/or architect, of Moneymore, Co. Derry, active in the 1860s. Magee, who was probably a near relative of DANIEL MAGEE  DANIEL MAGEE and of WILLIAM MAGEE WILLIAM MAGEE , designed cottages in Lawford and Conyngham Streets, Moneymore, for the Drapers' Company in 1867 and 1869.(1) He is probably the 'Magee' or 'Mr Magee' who was one of the contractors for the Rowley vault in the Church of Ireland churchyard in Moneymore in 1864,(2) and who built houses for the Drapers' Company in High Street, Moneymore, in 1862 and 1867.(3)   He and his wife, a shopkeeper, beceme bankrupt in 1876, when he alleged that money for extras on a contract with the Drapers' Company was still due to him.(4)
