Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architectural partnership, of Derry, formed in 1880 between THOMAS TURNER  THOMAS TURNER and HUME BABINGTON HUME BABINGTON . Turner remained based in Belfast, moved to Dublin in 1883 and died in 1891, but the partnership of Turner & Babington continued to be listed in the Derry Almanac until 1892. Babington also advertised in the Derry Almanac as a surveyor and house agent.

Date: 1881
Nature: Reconstruction, with chancel, New S transept, N porch,  windows and organ chamber. Tiling by Maw & Co. Tower left intact. Contractor: Joseph Ballantine, Derry. Consecrated 1 Dec 1881. Cost 'nearly £2000'.

Date: 1882-85
Nature: Large Baronial house for Andrew Alexander Watt (of Watt's Distillery, Derry). FS laid 1 Aug 1882. Builder: Joseph Ballantine. (NB Babington married a Hester Watt, possibly related?)
