Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Belfast.   According to the 1911 census, Joseph Norman Hall, son of Joseph Richard Hall, 'Merchant's Manager', of Belfast and his wife, Annie Elizabeth, was born in England in 1886 or 1887.   His younger brother was born a year later in Belfast, suggesting that his parents, who were both English, moved to Belfast soon after Joseph Norman's birth.  Nothing is known of Joseph Norman's architectural formation until 1906 or 1907 when he formed the partnership of GREGORY & GREGORY & amp; HALL with PATRICK  PATRICK (PADRAIG PADRAIG ) BERNARD GREGORY. BERNARD GREGORY. (1)   The partnership lasted until 1912. Later, in 1926, when he was living in Bangor, Co. Down, Hall was appointed chief assistant in the architects' department (in the Ministry of Finance?) by the Education Committee.(2)
