Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Builder and contractor, of Newry and Warrenpoint, Co. Down. David Mahood, who died at Warrenpoint in 1911 is stated in a brief obituary in the Building News to have been responsible for the erection of Newry town hall and the bridge on which it stands, the Great Northern railway stations at Warrenpoint, Navan and Newry, railway works at Dundalk, the Warrenpoint and Rostrevor tramways, and Warrenpoint waterworks.(1) He is probably the same person as David Mahood, of 6a Upper Edward Street, Newry, who was in business as a carpenter, joiner, builder and wright, and saw-mill proprietor in 1881.(2) and as David Mahood of Monaghan Street, Newry, who subscribed to George Lister Sutcliffe,ed., The Principles and Practice of Modern House-Construction (London, 1898).(3)
