HENZELL, J.N.R.
- Born: - Died: -
Civil engineer, of Dublin, and Carrick-on-Shannon. 'J.N.R. Henzell, Esq.', who appears to have been a son or close relative of JOHN HENZEL , was a subscriber to William Stitt's The Practical Architect's Ready Assistant; or Builder's Complete Companion(Dublin, 1819). He first appears in Wilson's Dublin Directory in 1819, with the designation 'civil engineer' and the address 45 St Stephen Street, which was also John Henzel's address. He continues to be listed in Wilson's Dublin Directory until 1837, his address changing in 1828 to 31 Molesworth Street. In The Post Office Directory for 1839 only a 'Hudson Henzell, esq.' appears at the latter address, and there are no Henzells at all in the editions for 1844 and 1847. By 1853 however no less than seven are listed, including J.N.R. Henzell, CE, of 10 Mecklenburgh Street Upper, and Carrick-on-Shannon.(1) J.N.R. Henzell remains in the directories with this both addresses until at least 1858 but has gone by 1863.
