Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Resident engineer to the Belfast & Co. Down Railway from 1863 or earlier until 1875 or later and to the Belfast, Holywood & Bangor Railway from 1874 or earlier until 1875 or later. Charles Domville, who was born on 16 April 1831, was a son by the second marriage of Dr James Bell Domville, Deputy Inspector of Hospitals in the Navy, who was based at the Royal Hospital, Greenwich. He worked in Ireland for at least twelve years from the early 1860s until the mid-1870s. By the end of 1877 he had emigrated with his large family to Hamilton, Ontario, where he worked as locomotive superintendent to the Great Western Railway. He died at Hamilton on 4 June 1904.
