Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer, of Dublin. Wesley William Wilson, who was born on 2 March 1840, spent his entire career with the firm of Arthur Guinness, Son and Co., Dublin. He joined the company in 1861 and studied under the company's engineer JAMES BOLGER[3]  JAMES BOLGER[3] from 1863 to 1867.   He was then appointed assistant engineer and in 1874 promoted to chief construction engineer with responsibility for all new work as well as for the maintenance of the existing premises. He also designed improvements on Lord Iveagh's estate at Palmerstown, Co. Dublin, including a lattice-girder bridge over the River Liffey.  He retired on 8 April 1899, when his place was taken by his assistant PROSSER AUSTIN HAYNES SHAW. PROSSER AUSTIN HAYNES SHAW. (1) He died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of sixty-two on 3 May 1902(2) and was buried in Mount Jerome Cemetery. His wife survived him. Other pupils and assistants included THOMAS FORSYTH  THOMAS FORSYTH and MATTHEW FORTESCUE. MATTHEW FORTESCUE.
