Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer, of Belfast. James Whiteford was born near Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim, circa 1835. He practised as an engineer in Belfast and was engineer and surveyor for the Downshire estates from 1887 onwards. He also worked for the Marquess of Dufferin and Ava. He died at his son's house, Prospect House, Carrickfergus, on 25 August 1904 in his seventieth year.
