Master builder, of Dublin, active in the 1790s. David Weir is probably the person of the same name who was admitted to the Dublin Society's School of Drawing in Architecture in 1770. It was as one of the 'Principal Architects and Builders' of Dublin that he signed a certificate recommending Bryan Bolger as measurer to the Royal Canal Company in July 1794, and in February 1801 he was one of the tradesmen who petitioned the Board of Works that Bolger succeed JOHN BEAHAN JOHN BEAHAN as the Board's measurer. Bolger records several works built by Weir during the 1790s. Weir held the position of carpenter to the Board of Works at the time of his death, which took place no later than April 1803, when the Board appointed his successor. According to his fellow tradesmen, writing in 1834, he had employed thirty men and died wealthy. Another David Weir, probably his son, was admitted a freeman of the city of Dublin as a member of the Carpenters' Guild by virtue of birth at Machaelmas 1804.
Address: 5 Denzille Street, <=1795 until death.
