Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of London, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), II, 758, and APSD, T, 100. According to the latter, Tarring 'was styled "the Gilbert Scott of the Dissenters"'. In Ireland he designed the Presbyterian church in King Street, Cork (1860-61).(1)

Nature: New church in progress. Walls 10 ft up in Jan 1861. . Builder: Richardson, London. Clerk of Works also a Londoner. 'We are informed that the proceedings connected with this competition are likely to provide some work for the gentlemen of the long robe at the ensuing assizes.'
