Carpenter and builder of 65, Townsend Street, Dublin, listed as such in Wilson's Dublin Directory for the years 1819 to 1822. Two persons of this name were admitted freemen of Dublin as members of the Carpenters' Guild, the first by Grace Especial at Midsummer, 1783, the second by virtue of birth at Christmas, 1810.(1) The earlier was probably the John Shaw who built a new house in Gardiner's Lane, Dublin, for the Rev. Dr. Martin in 1794.(2)
