Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of London, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), II, 1041. Robert Withers specialised in church design. In Ireland he designed the nave of Narraghmore CI church, Co. Kildare, 1860,(1) and may also have been involved in alterations to St John's church, Newport, Co. Tipperary, of which he made survey plans in 1866.(2) His was one of the five architectural practices which took part in a limited competition for St Bartholomew's Church, Ballsbridge, Dublin, in 1863.(3)
