Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English architect, for whom see Howard Colvin, A Biographical dictionary of British architects 1600-1840 (4th edn., 2008), 896-898. Sandby was placed third in the Dublin Royal Exchange competition of 1768-9.(1) He made designs for a gateway at Emo Court, Co. Laois, for the first Earl of Portarlington,(2) while a design by him for 'Lord Portarlington's house in Ireland' is in the Royal Collection, Windsor.(3)
