RYAN, EDWARD RAPHAEL

Engineer, of Galway City, active from the 1930s until the 1960s. Edward Raphael Ryan, BE (later ME) and BSc, was a lecturer in engineering at University College, Galway, from the mid 1930s until at least 1960.(1) He also had a private engineering practice in Galway. As represented by the works recorded in the Irish Builder, he did some architectural work, which included alterations and repairs to a number of churches - and one new church - in the Archdiocese of Tuam. However he was chiefly engaged on engineering projects, particularly water supply and sewerage schemes and the installation of electricity and plumbing systems.
