Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Solicitor, of Belfast and Dublin, for whom see obituary in in IB 68, 25 Dec 1926, 964. After writing a letter to the Irish Independent of 4 March 1907 condemning the prizewinning entries in the Irish labourers' cottages competition,(1) Francis Joseph Bigger published his own plans, elevations and interior views of 'labourers' cottages suitable for the country' in the same paper on 12 April. A fellow of the Royal Society of Antiquaries and a member of the Royal Irish Academy, he interested himself in many subjects, including the preservation and restoration of antiquities, and was honorary editor of the Ulster Journal of Archaeology.
