Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Building contractor, of Limerick. George Robert Ryan, who was born in Waterford on 8 June 1864,(1) was a son of Alderman James Ryan of Waterford, who established the contracting firm of James Ryan & Son of Waterford and Limerick. George Ryan, who had a degree in engineering, became senior partner in the firm which eventually transferred its headquarters to Limerick from Waterford. He died at the end of 1932, having been in failing health for some years.  He had married his wife, Agnes, in 1899 or 1900, and at the time of the 1911 census had five children.
