Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and builder of Mount Ievers, Co. Clare, which was unfinished at his death in 1736 and completed the following year by his son ISAAC ROTHERY. ISAAC ROTHERY. (1) His brother James Rothery also appears in the accounts for the house. John Rothery also designed and built the Market House at the nearby village of Sixmilebridge.(2) All the works known or believed to be by John or Isaac Rothery were built in the west and south-west of Ireland during the first three decades of the eighteenth century. Masons named Rothery are recorded in the later seventeenth century in Dublin, where a William Rothery was working on the Blue Coat School circa 1670 (3) and on the Ormonde Bridge in 1682,(4)and a John Rothery on the Tholsel, built between 1676 and 1685.(5) See also GEORGE ROTHERY.  GEORGE ROTHERY.
