ALTHEIR, JOHN CONRAD #
- Born: - Died: -
Swiss stonemason recruited by Frederick Hervey, Bishop of Derry, to provide a design and model for a wooden bridge over the River Foyle at Derry. These arrived in Derry in 1772, after Altheir and two of his countrymen had taken amost six months to push the model across Europe on a four-wheeled cart. At least one other model of Altheir's bridge was made, but the bridge itself was not executed.
