RIBTON, HERBERT PANMURE

Engineer, of Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, active in the 1850s and 1860s. Herbert Panmure Ribton, a son of Dr George Ribton, was born in Dublin circa 1831. He was admitted to Trinity College, Dublin, in October 1850 at the age of nineteen and received the BA degree in 1860. In 1863 he sent two letters of mathematical formulae to the Dublin Builder(1) and the following year he proposed building a railway line from Gorey to Courtown, Co. Wexford, with PETER JOSEPH MORAN as acting engineer.(2)
