Sculptor and stonecarver, of Dublin, for whom see Theo Snoddy, Dictionary of Irish Artists: 20th Century (1996), 397-400. Albert Power, the son of a Dublin watchmaker, was unusual for his time in that he was both a fine art sculptor and a stone-carver. By the late nineteenth century, as Breathnach-Lynch has pointed out, the distinction between fine art sculptors and stonecarvers had hardened. The former normally supplemented their incomes by teaching, whereas Power ran a stone-carving yard and was prepared to undertake architectural ornament and church furnishings.
