Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Surveyor in the War Department. According to his obituary, Richard Randall or Rundall(1) was stationed at the War Office and in Birmingham, Aldershot, Colchester and Halifax before being appointed district surveyor of the Curragh District in the Royal Engineer Establishment circa 1887.(2) Described as 'an energetic and incessant worker', he was responsible at the Curragh for a major barrack building scheme, as well as for the design and construction of several ancillary buildings. He retired in 1899, when he was succeeded by S. Alcock, and died at home in Dublin on 20 April 1900, aged sixty-six, leaving a widow and family.
