Engineer, of Belfast. John Finlay Peddie was born in Edinburgh in 1862 or 1863 and was educated at the King Edward VI School, Birmingham. He came to Belfast in 1880 as engineer to the Ulster Sanitary Association, and later set up in independent practice. He was responsible for a number of drainage schemes in the north of Ireland. He retired in 1929. He died of pneumonia in the winter of 1932-3, when he was seventy, after being involved in a road accident. At the time of the 1911 census he had been married for twenty three years and had two surviving children.
