PAGE, GEORGE GORDON #

English engineer, for whom see the obituary inMin.Proc.Inst.CE 82 (1884-85, Pt. 4), 377-8. Page and his collaborator RICHARD TURNER were entrants in the Carlisle Bridge competition of 1862,(1) and were announced the winners 'after a discreditable delay' in March 1864.(2) Page exhibited his design at the Royal Academy in 1864 (no. 805). The bridge was built to the designs of LANYON LYNN & LANYON , who were placed second in the competition.
