Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Cork, active from the late 1920s. Edmond ('Eddie') O'Flynn, a son of BARTHOLOMEW O'FLYNN BARTHOLOMEW O'FLYNN , was born in Cork on 18 July 1904. After spending two years in an architect's office, he attended the School of Architecture at Liverpool University for three years. In the late 1920s he entered his father's office and had entered into partnership with his father by March 1936.(1) He carried on the practice after his father's death in 1950. As in his father's case, much of his work was for public authorities in Co. Cork; he designed many housing schemes in the city and county(2) and was the architect of a number of vocational schools including the new music school on Union Quay, Cork. In about 1962 he took John Allan Morrison Green into partnership.(3) He died in 1980 or 1981. He was married with children.
