Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architectural partnership, of Cork, formed between BARTHOLOMEW O'FLYNN  BARTHOLOMEW O'FLYNN and his son EDMOND PATRICK JOSEPH O'FLYNN  EDMOND PATRICK JOSEPH O'FLYNN by March 1936.(1) After Barthlomew O'Flynn's death in October 1950, Edmond O'Flynn carried on the practice at the same address but under his own name. Pupils and assistants in the office included TIMOTHY JOSEPH AHERN.  TIMOTHY JOSEPH AHERN.

Address: 60 South Mall, Cork.

Nature: New factory, officially opened by An Taoiseach, Sean Lemass, 17 November, 1947, 'for the manufacture of Satin and Taffeta Linings and Lingerie materials'.  At the time of the opening the factory had an area of 55,000 feet 'already completed', and the white fronted building was described as 'a fine sight'. Also housed in the building were the looms of the Dun Emer Guild 'for the manufacture of the world famous Dun Emer Carpets'.
Mr M. O'Callaghan was foreman of the project.
