Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Dublin. According to the 1911 census, Charles P. McNamara, who was born in Dublin in 1892 or 1893, was the eldest son of Charles McNamara, an English-born plumber in Dublin, and his wife Mary.   In the census return he is described as 'Architect assistant', but details of his training are not known.   He became deputy housing architect to Dublin Corporation under HERBERT GEORGE SIMMS  HERBERT GEORGE SIMMS in 1939(1) and acting city architect after Simms's death in 1948.
