Architectural partnership, formed between JOHN MCCURDY JOHN MCCURDY and WILLIAM MANSFIELD MITCHELL WILLIAM MANSFIELD MITCHELL in 1872. The formal partnership was eventually dissolved. 'McCurdy & Mitchell' ceases to be named as such in the street directory section of Thom's directory for 1881 although both the 1881 and 1882 directories show McCurdy and Mitchell individually as still working from 10 Leinster Street. In 1883 only Mitchell is listed at 10 Leinster Street, while McCurdy gives 'Office of Works, Trinity College' as his business address. This suggests that the partnership definitely ended in or before 1882 and that McCurdy had decided to confine himself to working for Trinity. After McCurdy's death in 1885, Mitchell stayed on at 10 Leinster Street until 1889.
Addresses: Work: 7 Leinster Street, 1871-72; 10 Leinster Street, 1873-1880
See WORKS. For the purposes of this database all works not specifically attributed to one or other of the architects individually between 1872 and 1882 are listed under MCCURDY & MITCHELL. MCCURDY & MITCHELL.
