Engineer. According to the brief obituary in the Irish Builder,(1) Maurice Mallett, who was born in Sunderland circa 1873,(2) 'worked in many countries, particularly on the building of bridges'. Before his retirement - presumably circa 1938 - he was engineer in charge of the Bann drainage scheme and supervised the extension of the harbour at Coleraine, Co. Derry. After his retirement he remained in Coleraine. He died in 1961 in his eighty-eighth year.
