LOWEY, THOMAS ALOYSIUS BURKE

Architect, of Dublin and Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow. According to the 1911 census, Thomas Aloysius Burke Lowey (later hyphenated as Burke-Lowey), a son of EDWARD STEWART LOWEY , was born in Dublin in 1877 or 1878. He was apprenticed to WILLIAM HAGUE (1) before joining his father in practice in 1896 or earlier. In 1912 he was appointed engineer to Rathdown Rural District Council and Rathdown Board of Guardians at a salary of £150 and £50 per annum respectively.(2) He is presumably the 'Mr Lowey' who submitted a design in the Dublin Municipal Buildings competition of 1913.(3) In 1922 he was appointed engineer to the Co. Wicklow Board of Health.(4) He died in 1928.(5)
