LAVERTY, JOHN *

Builder, of Belfast, head of the firm of Henry Laverty & Sons, Ltd from 1896 until his death. The firm, which was established in Carrickfergus in the 1860s, transferred its operations to Belfast in 1888 and later became a private limited liability company. John Laverty died at his home in Whitehead, Co. Antrim, in 1909 at the age of fifty-three. He was a subscriber to George Lister Sutcliffe,ed., The Principles and Practice of Modern House-Construction (London, 1898).(1)
