Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer. William Wright Larmor was born on 1 November 1869. He entered Queen's College, Belfast, in 1887. A science scholar of the college in 1888 and 1889 and senior scholar in chemistry in 1890, he graduated BA with honours in experimental science in 1891. From 1895 to 1897 he served a pupilage with JAMES PERRY JAMES PERRY , County Surveyor for Galway and managing director of the Galway Electric Company, acting as resident engineer for the construction of causeways and bridges on the Connemara coast. In 1898 he sat the county surveyorship examination. He was working in the office of JAMES HERON JAMES HERON , county surveyor for Co. Down, in the same year and was an assistant county surveyor for Co. Down from 1907 or earlier until 1934 or 1935. He was engineer to Banbridge Rural District Council from the passing of the Local Government Act of 1898 until 1934, when he retired. He was living in Holywood, Co. Down, at the time of his death, which took place in 1936.
