Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Drawing clerk, of Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh. In 1809 John Kane Junior of Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh, offered his services as a drawing clerk to BRYAN BOLGER BRYAN BOLGER . In his letter of reply, dated 9 October 1809, Bolger informed Kane that RICHARD MORRISON  RICHARD MORRISON needed one.(1) Whether Kane was employed by Morrison is not recorded; could he possibly be the same person as JOHN B. KEANE JOHN B. KEANE , who was working for Morrison by 1819? A John Kane was admitted to the Dublin Society's School of Drawing in Architecture on 6 June 1811.(2) Undated plans and an elevation for the Erasmus Smith school at Stranorlar, Co. Donegal, signed by a John Kane, are in the Erasmus Smith collection at the High School, Rathgar, Dublin.
