Sculptor, also known as Albert Bruce-Joy, for whom see Theo Snoddy, Dictionary of Irish Artists: 20th Century (2nd edition, 2002), 58-59, and Paula Murphy, Nineteenth-Century Irish Sculpture: Native Genius Reaffirmed (Yale University Press: New Haven & London, 2010), 133-136. Born in Dublin, Albert Bruce Joy spent most of his adult life in London, where he had a successful and prolific career as a sculptor. For Ireland, in addition to a number of portrait busts, he executed the statue of Lord Kelvin in the Botanic Gardens, Belfast, statues of Lord Chief Justice James Whiteside, Lord Justice Fitzgibbon and Dr George Salmon in St Patrick's Cathedral, and a statue of Robert James Graves in the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.
