Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of London, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), I, 1002. In Ireland Jackson designed the Star Insurance Office at the corner of College Green and Trinity Street in 1899.(1) The Irish Builder dismissed the finished office, 'advertised as the work of a Mr Bloomfield[sic] Jackson, of London', as a building that 'somehow does not appear to most architects to have been designed by an architect at all'.(2) Blomfield was the son-in-law, partner and successor of CHARLES JOHN PHIPPS. CHARLES JOHN PHIPPS.
